I am a New Jersey licensed psychologist (#2244) with offices in Bridgewater, NJ and Flemington,
NJ. I provide psychotherapy and counseling, including marriage and family counseling, to individuals, couples, children and teens, using both a cognitive and a behavioral psychological
treatment approach. I also offer Psychological Testing and Evaluation Services for court (Forensic Psychology), including expert witness testimony, throughout New Jersey. See
Forensic Psychology Services for more details.
Most people seek psychological treatment when they are overwhelmed by their emotions, when they cannot manage problems in their personal and family relationships, when their behavior is out
of control, or when they are facing significant positive or negative changes in their lives.
I believe in an active, problem-solving approach to psychological treatment. This may involve helping you learn how to control and channel anger more effectively, how to resist the pessimistic,
self-defeating thoughts that accompany depression, or how to shut-off anxiety to prevent a panic attack. If you are
experiencing problems with relationships, couple counseling can help you to improve communication or resolve conflicts,
and family counseling can help resolve parent-child conflicts and child behavioral problems. You may also need to learn
anger management skills to control your temper, relaxation skills to manage anxiety, or assertiveness and communication skills to cope more effectively with other people.
If the relationship problem is an abusive partner, a family member with substance abuse or serious emotional problems, or a
co-worker or boss who is harassing you, individual counseling may be more effective in helping you identify positive options,
develop the coping skills to manage the problem, and then reach your own decision about how to resolve the problem.
Facing major life changes can be quitre stressful as well. These changes may be voluntary and desirable, such as getting
married, having a child, accepting a promotion, or changing careers. At other times, the changes are unavoidable, and
unwanted, such as accepting a job transfer to another state, getting a divorce, facing unemployment, or coping with a
serious illness in yourself or a family member. Coping with change requires psychological preparation and planning, and you
will also need emotional support to deal with the stress created by the change. Psychological counseling can help you through difficult decisions and transitions in your life, especially when you feel overwhelmed.
